PDF Held Orientation Sessions for the NGOs Award of Excellence
In an effort to continue assisting and developing the civil society and the Egyptian NGOs, PDF held orientation sessions for the NGOs award of excellence with the attendance of 100 representatives from 60 NGOs from different Egyptian governorates. The sessions addressed detailed information about the Award, the needed documents and the prizes for the winning NGOs, in addition to answering all the NGOs’ queries.
PDF held 8 orientation sessions on 2 days; 22nd and 23rd of May 2016. On the first day, representatives of the NGOs in Cairo, Giza, Beheira and Alexandria attended the sessions, while the second day was dedicated for the NGOs in Upper Egypt and the representatives of the NGOs in Menya, Aswan, Luxor, Sohag, Qena, Asuit, and Bani Sweif were the attendees of that session.
The NGOs’ representatives praised the sessions as they found them to be very beneficial and helped them understand the Award’s terms and conditions and know more about the projects presented by PDF , in addition to being introduced to the other NGOs working in different fields to improve and develop the civil society.
Launching NGOs Award of Excellence
Under the auspices of the Ministry of the Social Solidarity, Professional Development Foundation launched the “NGOs Award of Excellence”. the award aims at encouraging Egyptian NGOs in managing successful projects which will help them in maintaining the sustainability of their organizations and supporting their internal capacity to aid them in reaching their goals and develop their communities. Concluding the Training Phase of NGOs Capacity Building Program
In collaboration with the Rotary Clubs Union in Egypt, PDF’s Civil Society Support Center concluded the training phase of the NGO Capacity Building program during February 2016 in Aswan, tjis round served 15 NGOs with total of 57 trainees representing various management levels within the organizations. Following the completion of the training phase, the implementation phase begins where each NGO starts the field application exercises. This round received an excellent satisfaction grade from the participating NGOs within overall percentage of 91%
The Egyptian Federation for Scouts and Girl Guides launched 3 million email addresses through Techsoup Egypt program
The Egyptian Federation for Scouts and Girl Guides launches its initiative for the first time in Egypt, The federation provided 3 million email addresses for its branches and members using Office 365 technology that was donated from Techsoup Egypt program which provides the technological infrastructure for Egyptian NGOs.
Techsoup Egypt program has contributed with The Egyptian Federation for Scouts and Girl Guides in enhancing its capabilities where Office 365 software donation helped in speeding up the communication and connectivity between its branches as well as speeding up the communication between the federation members together through video conferences, e-mail addresses, files sharing, as well as enabling the federation to deploy electronic data collection form.
The Egyptian Federation for Scouts and Girl Guides has benefited from the technology donation especially in facilitating the connection between its branches in Egypt with the Egyptian members that were participating in the 23rd international camp in Japan.
Techsoup Egypt program is supporting the civil society organizations by providing the software and the necessary technological licenses as free donations for Egyptian NGOs to promote the use of technology as an important mean of communication and archiving of data.
Concluding the training phase of the NGOs Capacity Building program
In collaboration with the International Labour Organization, the Civil Society Support center concluded the training phase of its fifth round of the NGO Capacity Building program during June, this round served 12 NGOs with total of 46 trainees representing various management levels within the organizations. Following the completion of the training phase, the implementation phase begins where each NGOs starts the on-ground application exercises for a maximum of six months.
This round received an excellent satisfaction grade from the participating NGOs with overall percentage of 91%.
“NGOs Connection Day” Event by the Civil Society Support Center and Microsoft
In collaboration with Microsoft, the Civil Society Support Center held the yearly “NGOs Connection Day” to strengthen the ongoing cooperation among Egyptian NGOs. The event gathered a diversity of NGOs specialized in Women Development, Human Resources Development, Education and Health. The “NGO Connection day” took place on June 16th, 2013 engaging 40 Women representing 24 NGOs.
“Empowering Women” was the theme, aiming to empower the women decision makers through a learning environment, providing them with the required leadership tools, methods and skills. Thus help them to achieve organizations’ missions. The training methodology was based on experiential learning with the objective of assisting participants to better understand the concept of “Servant Leadership” and leading organizations to success; all the topics of the day were presented through a set of activities followed by reflection conclusions discussion at the end of each activity. The opening session covered two essential topics; the first topic was about information technology leverage where the NGOs can benefit from the donation program “Techsoup Egypt”. The second topic was introducing the NGO Capacity Building program developed by Professional Development Foundation. The program was designed to support NGOs by helping them develop efficiently managed organizations through best use of human and financial resources.
